Failed to connect to the docker API error when runs-on ubuntu-slim

This is a bug report

When runs-on ubuntu-slim, this actions failed.

This seems ubuntu-slim runner is executed in a container rather than full VM

Reproduction

version: v2.1.2

1. runs this actions on ubuntu-slim runner

Expected behavior

• successfully finished the action

Actual behavior

Failed with following log

ERROR: failed to connect to the docker API at unix:///var/run/docker.sock; check if the path is correct and if the daemon is running: dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: connect: no such file or directory

Workaround

Use curl based api

Not possible @sasurau4 - you can't run Docker based GitHub actions within ubuntu-slim as it itself is a Docker container.

IMO: It seems too heavy using docker just to POST such as https://github.com/rollbar/github-deploy-action/blob/2.1.2/entrypoint.sh

IMO: It seems too heavy using docker just to POST such as

100% - I think this actions is very much over-engineered.

I don't typically use this Action for these reasons - instead just use a small Node.js utility / curl directly in workflows - much nicer.
