This is my attempt to solve the problem defined in #223. Please, take a look.
The implementation is provided by Codex CLI backed by GPT-5-Codex (high). It works on my case perfectly well without workarounds. Please, let me know if anything must be addressed before merging it to the upstream.
For those who wants to test it out, feel free to install it like so:
uv add git+https://github.com/sparfenyuk/pytest-bdd --branch async-codex.
