Short description
a free afternoon at VU with a beginner workshop, community talks and a live coding session to wrap it all up
Full event description
On Saturday, October 24th, Creative Coding Amsterdam and VU Amsterdam are bringing Processing Community Day to Amsterdam.
Processing Community Day (PCD) is a worldwide series of local events celebrating the Processing programming language and the creative coding community that has grown around it since 2001. Amsterdam's edition is a free afternoon at VU with a beginner workshop, community talks and a live coding session to wrap it all up.
It's for anyone who makes things with code, or wants to start. Whether you've written one sketch or a thousand, you belong here. The whole afternoon is in English.
Program
13:30 · Opening Block
Welcome and context from the organizers.
13:50-15:10 · First Pixel
A hands-on introduction to Processing for beginners. No experience needed, just bring a laptop. You'll go home with a generative sketch you made yourself. The workshop is in room NU-6A25.
15:30-16:45 · Open Systems
Community talks on generative work. Speakers from the open call present generative systems, interactive works and creative tools, 10-15 minutes each.
17:00-18:00 · Render Loop
The day ends with an audiovisual algorave. Code written live and projected big.
Open call
Want to present during Open Systems? Apply by Saturday, October 10th. Each slot is 15 minutes long, with 10 minutes to present and 5 for questions.
Never presented before? Please apply anyway. First-time speakers are very welcome, and your work doesn't need to be finished. Think generative visual systems, interactive installations, creative coding tools and libraries, live coded performances, or the story of how a project came together. Commercial product pitches aren't a fit.
