Summary

Optimizes the OpenShift Pipelines performance cron schedule to reduce CI infrastructure saturation on aws-pipelines-performance Boskos pool.

Changes

  • Remove 1.19: Delete 5 periodic cron jobs and 5 optional manual jobs for pipelines 1.19
  • Variant-based scheduling: Restructure all cron jobs so each deployment variant (Standard, HA-10, HA-10-StatefulSets, QBT, HA-10-QBT) runs on dedicated days of the month instead of everything running daily
  • 2h spacing: Jobs within each variant day are spaced 2 hours apart to prevent overlap
  • Nightly Focus Day: Days 6, 13, 20, 27 run all nightly variants for 2x/week regression coverage
  • Tkn-res stays daily: Results jobs remain daily for baseline data collection, moved to h8-h14 with 2h spacing

Schedule Architecture

Block Order: Pipes (h0-h6) -> Tkn-res (h8-h14) -> Signs (h14-h20)
Days of Month Variant Pipes Signs Tkn-res
1, 8, 15, 22 Standard h0/h2/h4/h6 h14/h16/h18/h20 daily
2, 9, 16, 23 HA-10 h0/h2/h4/h6 h14/h16/h18/h20 daily
3, 10, 17, 24 HA-10-StatefulSets h0/h2/h4/h6 -- daily
4, 11, 18, 25 QBT h0/h2/h4/h6 h14/h16/h18/h20 daily
5, 12, 19, 26 HA-10-QBT h0/h2/h4/h6 h14/h16/h18/h20 daily
6, 13, 20, 27 Nightly Focus 5 nightly pipes @ h0 4 nightly signs @ h20 daily
7, 14, 21, 28 Buffer -- -- daily

Concurrency Impact

Scenario Before After
Variant day ~12-15 ~4
Focus Day ~12-15 ~5
Buffer day ~8-10 ~2

Why variant-based grouping?

When filtering Grafana by deploy_config = Standard, all version data points (nightly, 1.20, 1.21, 1.22) land on the exact same dates -- perfect alignment for side-by-side version comparison in KB articles and performance docs.

Summary by CodeRabbit

Reorganized OpenShift Pipelines performance CI schedules to reduce saturation in the aws-pipelines-performance Boskos pool. Jobs are grouped by deployment variant and distributed across dedicated day-of-month and two-hour time slots, while selected days retain full nightly regression coverage.

Removed periodic and optional Pipelines 1.19 jobs, updated coverage for Pipelines 1.20 variants, and scheduled Tkn-res jobs daily in a dedicated block. This lowers peak concurrency and aligns deployment-variant data points for comparison.

Walkthrough

OpenShift Pipelines performance cron schedules were updated across nightly, pipeline-version, signing, and resource-pruning jobs. Several 1.19 max-concurrency job definitions were removed while corresponding 1.20 definitions and deployment version values were retained or updated.
