On a fresh install of TurnKeyLinux GitLab 18.1, my host machine is able to connect to the vm's login pages (gitlab and webmin) with the http protocol, but not the https protocol. Also, ssh works as expected.
I believe the problem is a lack of a self-signed SSL cert after initial installation, or its incorrect configuration. The VM is not visible on the public internet (it's behind NAT), so attempts to get a real SSL cert fail. However, there should be a self-signed "Snake Oil" cert so that the system can be tested in a closed environment.
Attempting to connect via https on Firefox/Librewolf brings up a page with the message
Looks like there’s a problem with this site
[Firefox/LibreWolf] can’t connect to the server at 192.168.122.75
What can you do about it?
Try connecting on a different device. Check your modem or
router. Disconnect and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
Since connection with http and ssh works, and this is a VM running locally, the problem is with the vm configuration. The vm is running over KVM/QEMU but I had problems with VirtualBox as well, which if memory servers were the same as this.
